Zane Grey’s river cabin in Southern Oregon…
There is a 40 mile stretch of designated wilderness area down the lower Rogue River in Southern Oregon. There are no roads, power lines, or even people for that matter along this stretch of river. The only way into this area is by foot or by water.
It is in this secluded part of the river where celebrated Western author, Zane Grey, had a fishing cabin used 1919-1939 (which still stands and is open to the public). Many might recall his literature works of the Riders of the Purple Sage, or Rogue River Feud (written about the local area at the time). Zane Grey was a fisherman through and through and much of the water he fished on the Rogue remains unchanged to this day.
